The year 2022 was marked by an inflationary cycle that affected several services and products with which all portuguese people deal on a daily basis, the most notable examples of this cycle being the rise in the price of energy, food, construction costs and the increase of interest rates. But not only. The high inflation that has been felt in Portugal for almost 1 year has also supported the evolution of property prices, which have been rising for several years, thus making it difficult for many families to access housing.
With all this, it is not surprising that the houses to buy have reached high values compared to previous years. According to the idealista, the price of houses for purchase in December 2022 was 6.4% more expensive compared to the same month in 2021. At the end of December last year, buying a house had an average price of 2,475 euros per square meter (eur /m2).
